Coverage
What's in the data, what isn't
The eight sources, the years covered, and the honest gaps.
Article
Receipts Report fuses eight federal data sources. Coverage varies by source:
- USAspending federal awards — FY2008 forward (some sources go earlier); full pg_restore of every contract, grant, loan-guarantee, and direct payment - Congress.gov bills + members + amendments — every bill since the 113th Congress, full sub-resources for the 119th - Senate.gov + Clerk.house.gov roll-call votes — every recorded Senate vote 1989 forward; House votes 2013 forward (pre-2013 House is a coverage gap we're working on) - LDA lobbying disclosures — 23 years of registrations and quarterly activity reports - FEC campaign finance — every individual contribution + PAC + candidate + committee since 1980, plus House/Senate election results from 2002 forward - STOCK Act PTRs — every member-of-Congress stock trade disclosure; member coverage is strong, staff coverage is patchier - Earmarks (CDS/CPF) — FY24-26 community-project funding requests (earmarks were paused 2011-2021) - Congressional Record — coverage is landing in waves; ongoing backfill
For the full per-source coverage detail, see /data-integrity. We name our gaps explicitly — coverage we don't have isn't hidden.
